Poker and Silly Joey

Well I finally did a poker page. My family plays a lot of poker, every Friday at my house and at most family functions!! We love poker.
I printed the strips from MS Word, and then inked with red or black. The black strips are ribbon and paper. The swirls are from a new Doodling Template I got because I can't doodle!! So I cheat ;). I used SU! build a brads for the four suits. The title is foam letters, I forget by whom, and tag punch by SU! I sanded the photo and inked with black in in a messy way.
This is also for Sally's sketch #143, a rare one photo sketch. I love the sketch and hope to use it again.

I didn't like where this was going when I started it but it grew on me. I don't know if it is too bright? The challenge was to use ribbon for texture, well I did!!! A lot of it!! Used American Crafts patterned ribbon and SU! ribbon. I stamped the green and orange cs with Big and Little Pieces stamp set from SU! in versamark. I used brads from Making Memories, they sort of look like the pattern on the ribbon.
Thanks for stopping by!!

Fishin' Buddies & Joy

This is my dad and Lucas fishing in some lakes we have in our neighborhood. They are well stocked and the fish are very eager to bite which makes for fun fishing. I finally got to use some of my My Minds Eye- Bohemia paper and accessories (photo frame, buddies clear strip). The colors worked well for the photos. For some fun I added a fishing lure to the page, but increases the risk of injury :) I used the tearing edge on the white paper and then inked with close to coco.

This is also for Sally's sketch last Friday (SBSC142) you should stop by and see all the great sketch's she has: Sally's sketch gallery!!!

This page turned out really cute, love the color combo, I used the ribbon as the starting point. For the circles I used my circle cutter by EK Success (have I told you that I love it!!). For the card stock I used DCWV (green & light blue), SU! (brilliant blue), Paper Company (white) all textured (love textured cs!!) Brads and ribbon buckle by Queen & Co, can't remember who the tag is by, patterned ribbon from Michael's, white and green ribbon by SU!. I inked the edges of the photos with brilliant blue and glorious green by SU!. The little circle at the bottom with the date was used to cover up a mistake, I was trying to stamp the date under the picture but it didn't stamp all the way and looked bad, so stamped on the circle (to carry the circle theme) and covered the mistake. As they say, there are no mistakes in scrapbooking just embellishment opportunities.

This page was for the bonus sketch from Sally (SBSC142B) she spoils us!!

Stop by the Totally Random Blog to see all kinds of wonderful pages posted weekly for separate challenges that are posted on Wednesday's.

Beautiful Boy & No! No! No!

This page is for the Totally Random Challenge #4 using song lyrics for a page. I chose Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) by John Lennon. I found a picture of my youngest boy, Joey, when he was only a few days old. To print the lyrics on the scalloped paper, I cut it to normal paper size and ran it through the printer, and then taped it back together. The patterned paper is from DCWV - spring slab, I rounded the corners, and chalked with Choco Chip (SU!). The patterned ribbon is from American Crafts, wide brown from SU!. Crochet flower from imaginisce (on clearance of course!), heart pins from Fancy Pants Designs.

I tried something different for the title. I used white rub-ons on white paper, then rubbed brown chalk over it to make them pop. It turned out OK I think, need to play around with it a little.

This page is for the Splitcoast Variety Challenge #28 - Chipboard stamping. These are pictures of my eldest, Lucas, who got a hold of some baby powder and made a huge mess with it!!! I don't know where I was, but I took pictures for evidence!!! I used Spring Break papers from SU!, photo corner punch, round tag punch and Not quite Navy paper all SU!. The strip of journaling in the middle says "Lucas + Baby Powder - Mom = A very Big Mess!!"

The chipboard has a variety of makers, I covered them with Not Quite Navy Craft Ink from SU! and then stamped with white craft ink using the Itty Bitty Backgrounds (SU!).
I hope to work on the sketches from Sally today, she included a bonus sketch this week. Check out the sketches here: SBSC142 and SBSC142B.

Thank for stopping by!!

Friday Challenges

This is for Sally's sketch last Friday here is the link for the sketch SBSC141. This is a really bright page, didn't plan that but that is how it happened. Finally used a bunch of buttons I have, and I have a lot!! Used the colors from the Celebration Collection from American Crafts, matched up with buttons from walmart, rub-on letters from scrapworks, the ribbon is also American Crafts. Journaling reads: While waiting for the cards game to start Dave and I took some silly pictures. When my son saw the pictures he asked "Is this what you do without us?" I said we were just playing around. April 29th, 2008

I stapled the ribbon on to the journaling strips to have some other splash of metal like the circle tag around the stamp.

This page is for the Variety challenge SBVC27 using thought bubbles. When I saw this challenge I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use. Our cat has been having hygiene issues so I had to give him a bath, he hates it like most cats. I tried to snap some pictures while doing it because he looks sooooo skinny all wet, he has a lot of hair and is usually very fluffy and look a lot bigger than he is.
This is a close up of the buttons I did. I punched out some of the paw prints from the patterned paper and adhered to the bottom of clear buttons with vellum adhesive.
This is one of my thought bubbles. I used the thought bubbles from Microsoft word added my text and then printed and cut out. I also popped them up for effect.
Until next time . . .

Father

These are some pages I have been wanting to do for a long time!! I took these pictures in April 2002 of my Husband and oldest boy. The sketch is loosely based on a pagemaps/Becky Fleck sketch. I love this photo!!! I took it on a whim and it turned out great, a great memory!!

This is a close up of one of the stickers I have had for years and finally used, I added a chipboard letter 'F' painted with Making Memories paint and then I attached an American crafts metal word tile to it.
This is a close up of the left side of the page, I used my Dotted background SU! stamp and clear embossed it, gives it a cool look. I used the buttons as photo corners. Thanks for stopping by and until next time. . .

Some new pages. . .

Here is my crazy Dancing Machine!!

This is my page for Sally's Friday Sketch, I though I would have trouble with it but when I found these pictures, I had my page. Then I had a real hard time finding the right papers, I wanted fun and I think I got it :)
Here is beautiful Lily on her baptism. This is for Peggy's Variety challenge, Flowers for mom. I used flowers but not for mom. The edge of the photo is sanded for softness. I also dry brushed on Rose Red ink to the edges of the white paper for softness, looks good IRL. I finally got to use some felt flower ribbon I have had forever. Used some truly vintage buttons, from my mom's stash, and some fuzzy fiber.

Until the next Totally Random Challenge on Wednesday. . .

What R U Feeding Me!

Yes, a pretty messy baby. This is my oldest, Lucas, about 6 years ago. I was giving him spinach for the first time and had to capture his reaction on film. He made some funny faces. This is the first time that I did a layout on a tilt, really like how it turned out. Used patterned paper from g. c. d. studio, Red ribbon from SU!, arrow photo turns and corner by Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby), Foam Letters and rub-ons from American Crafts. A different view showing how I popped up the title for depth.
Thanks for taking a look.

Happy 4th!!

These are some fun pages I did a while ago but just got to posting. A lot of white space, which is different for me, and I did some doodling!! These are photos from last year at my cousins Julia's house, she has the pool and big yard, perfect for all the kids, then we lit fireworks. I love the colors red, white and blue, I just love how they look together, I have done sooooo many pages in this color scheme.

If you look behind Joey's photo, you can see a tab. That is where my journaling is, it just slides out from behind the picture. The picture is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here is a close-up of the title. I used the SU! set Independence Day. Used Real Red & Ballet Blue, some circle punches and then placed on a big Ghost Star from Heidi Swapp.

This is a look at my doodling and the other embellishments. Those little stars are soooo cute, can't remember where they are from, just added some thread and tied in a knot.

Thanks for stopping by and leave a comment if you like.
Until next time. . .

Snow Snack

My interpretation of Sally's sketch #138. When I saw it and immediately thought the little flower things to be snow. Then I remember my son eating tons of it this past winter and I had my page.
To add texture to the page I use the Fun Fur, silver cord and silver organdy ribbon, also the Variety challenge #24. I really like how that turned out. For the pictures, I swiped the photo on a glue pad and then added glitter. This really looks cool IRL. Sense the patterned paper is the same color as the background, I inked the edges in Ballet Blue to give some definition and pop.
The snowflakes were punched out of white, blue & Hologram Highlights embossed white paper (embossed paper first and then punches out). The punches are from Hobby Lobby, Paper Studio.

Take some funky fibers and see what you can come up with!! I really adds something different to a page.
Until next time. . .

SCS Sketch & Variety Challange

This weeks sketch from Sally is a Double Page Spread (DPS). Looks like a lot of fun little embellies to use on this one!!!

Here is the link for the Variety Challange from Peggy SBVC24. For this challange we are to create a border using fun and funky fibers. If you don't have any, most craft stores have some, I am using Fun Fur found in the yarn section. Peggy also has two sample pages for us to look at for inspiration, just go to the link for them.
These challanges are a great way to get pages done. Try them today!!

Cards, Cards, Cards

I have been a busy card maker this week. My son's school was having a Fun Fair and I was donating some cards to the Country Store. I was really out of practice making cards so it took me a while getting going. I am pretty happy with how it all came out. I really like the blue thank you card using the note book paper. I am probably going to use this as a thank you card for my son's teacher.
This card is cased from a card in Cards Magazine. Love the new fun paper from American Crafts. The sentiment is embossed in white for some substance. I used the Happy Everything SU! stamp set, American Crafts Wide Ribbon, American Crafts Patterned paper, Real Red and Tempting Turquoise CS from SU!
This card was inspired from the SU! catalog. I wanted to use my scraps of colored ribbon and choose the colors based on that. For the sentiment, I stamped on a transparency with black staz on, it looks cool IRL. I used Real Red and Whisper White CS from SU!, Black Grosgrain Ribbon SU!, White Craft ink, Whimsy Jumbo Wheel, and Lot of Thoughts. Bad Close-up of the transparancy window
I love this card!! Really like how it turned out. The paper is from Hobby Lobby (Paper Studio) I inked the edges with Red and roughed up the edges and corners. Stamps: Defining Alphabet and Define Your Life (SU!), Bo Bunny; Elements Clear Stamps, Night of Navy, Real Red, White Craft Ink, Spiral Punch (SU!), Paper Clip, Red Striped Ribbon (SU!). This card is ok. Trying to use up some scrap paper. I thread the ribbon (Michales) through the flower and clear button (SU!)and then tied. The sentiments is from the Spring Solitude set (SU!), stamped in Close to Coco craft ink (SU!) and embossed in clear. Also used Tim Holtz distress ink to age it a little.

Now off to scrapbook.

Until next time.

Beautiful Missouri Saturday. . .

All the sound of a wonderful spring day here, lawnmowers, kids outside playing, trees being trimmed, birds chirping, dogs barking. . . LOVE IT!! This is when I take a deep breath and say wow, this is great!!!

Then all is interrupted by my two boys fighting, someone is hurt or won't share and I must referee!! Ahhhhhh. . . to be a mom of two boys!! You feel me ladies don't you!!!

Any who . . got my page done for Sally's sketch. Love these photos of my Lucas playing with the sparklers last year. Took the photos with the night shot. Hint: I turned up the exposure, held steady or set camera on a chair or ground and clicked a second before I wanted. Got some lucky shots.

Used a lot of stickles by Ranges (introduced to me by my good friend Becca, now can't live with out my bling from stickles). Outlined the word 'July' for my title and the fireworks thing in the corner. Also used stickles on the Ghost Stars by Heidi Swapp. For the Red and Blue stars, I embossed part of a sheet CS with Iridescent Ice and then punched out. Matted the main photo and popped up. All the stars are also popped up for effect.

Looks a little busy to me but I think it will grow on me.

Have a wonderful day!!

Thank You!!

Wanted to give a big thanks to Jessica (talk, paper, scissors . . . STAMP!) and Denise (Scrapping from my soul) for inspiring me to jump on the blogging wagon. Stop by these very talanted ladies blogs for some great pages and inspiration.

Spring Fever

I am in the mood for some sun!!! And we have finally gotten some. With all the beautiful flowers blooming and warm and wonderful days I have been into bright colors.

I took these pictures last year of my oldest son in our little pool, he is such a fish, he gets it honestly from me. When I can get him to smile and not screaming or making the fake smile, he looks pretty darn handsome. But I may be a little biased.

Finally used the new paper I got from Deja Vu called Mango. It is sooooo cool, love all the wonderful summery colors and bold patterns. The title and word stickers are also from the same series. My sister-in-laws lent me her newest cricut cartridge, Accents and Elements, for the flowers and sun. I cut them out in two different sizes, crinkled them a bit and added a contrasting big brad. The frame around the title is also from the same cartridge, it is popped up and inked a little in blue. Always have ribbon somewhere on my pages, so used some old colors from SU! around the frame. The layout is from PageMaps (love this site!!) check it out.

I have a blog!!

Well I did it, I started a blog. I though, everyone else has one. . . I want one.

No really it just seemed fun and it turned out to be incredibly easy. I hope to post often and share many ideas, techniques, links to great papercraft sites, and other great blogs. I hope you find it helpful, inspiring and a little funny (just a little).

Have a wonderful day!
